Law Enforcement Youth Academy Celebrates Achieivements July 31
The Law Enforcement Youth Academy will celebrate a summer of achievement and preparing future leaders on July 31 in Aurora with its annual graduation ceremony.
The ceremony begins at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 31, 2014, at the Prisco Community Center, 150 W. Illinois Ave., Aurora. It will honor youths ages 14 to 18 for completing seven weeks of physical fitness and hands-on experience with various agencies in the field of law. The youths will share their stories of how the program has had a positive impact on their lives.
Kane County State’s Attorney Joe McMahon, Kane County Sheriff Pat Perez, Aurora Police Chief Greg Thomas, Aurora Mayor Thomas Weisner and several Aurora aldermen will be present to honor the youths for their great accomplishments.
The Law Enforcement Youth Academy’s mission to establish a generation of young people with the inspiration, self-confidence and leadership skills to become productive citizens in law enforcement as police cadets, deputies, lawyers and judges. The academy is designed to give our youths hope and appreciation in knowing that they can make a difference in their community.
