Pets, Humans Love Tail-Waggin’ Tuesdays in Dog-Friendly East Dundee
The second Tail Waggin’ Tuesdays is off to a pawfect start and will be held on July 22, at The Depot, 319 North River Street, East Dundee. Tail Waggin’ Tuesdays is held from 5 p.m. to dusk, rain or shine. This month, owners are encouraged to dress their pet in their favorite bathing suit. The winner will be announced at the end of the night and treated to a professionally-baked, dog-friendly celebration cake.
As many as two hundred canines attending the first Tail Waggin’ Tuesdays had a howling good time. Dogs were treated to pet-safe tattoos, woofed down dog-friendly sweet treats by many of the vendors including cupcakes and birthday cake created by Piece-A-Cake Bakery. Entertainment for the first event was provided by Skydogz, a rockin’ Frisbee dog show set to some great music. Numerous pet-related vendors were on hand such as Dundee Animal Hospital, Petco, Pampered Pets, Save-A-Vet, Kountry Pet Resort and Training Center, Anderson Animal Shelter, Scoo-B-Do’s, Kriser’s and many others. The Dundee Lions also sponsored a “cutest dog” facebook contest and voting is still open for those interested in casting their vote.
Event volunteer and new East Dundee resident Barbara Sypien said “We love coming to all the events held at the Depot. We’ve lived in Chicago and Wonder Lake but East Dundee really feels like home. All the new events this year bring a sense of community to our area. We are so glad we chose to move to East Dundee.”
New to the Depot grounds this year are the “Park Your Pet” areas were shoppers can hook up their pet as they shop and Dogi-Pot pet disposal stations. The Depot also features a dog watering fountain which provides clean and filtered water to each dog. Drinking water is always fresh for each thirsty dog and automatically disposed of when drinking is finished.
Even when it’s not a Tuesday, East Dundee is a dog-friendly community with a host of canine related businesses; Save-A-Vet pet rescue, Dundee Animal Hospital, Pampered Pets, Scoo-B-Do’s and numerous dog-friendly events and fundraisers.
