‘Play Ball’ Exhibit and Lecture on Baseball History in Aurora

The history of ball playing in Aurora will be the subject of a lecture at 2 p.m. July 20 at the Pierce Art and History Center, 20 E. Downer Pl., Aurora, 60505.  John Jaros, executive director of the Aurora Historical Society, will begin with the introduction of baseball at about the time of the Civil War and continue through the glory days of fastpitch softball in the mid-twentieth century.   Admission is $5 for non-members and $3 for members.

The lecture coincides with the summer exhibit “Play Ball, Aurora!” which is on display at the Pierce Center until Sept. 13.  Hours are noon to 4 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays, and on first Fridays, there are additional hours of 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.  Admission is free.  Donations are appreciated.
