West Nile Reminder: After Soaking Rain, Inspect Your Yard for Standing Water

After last night’s soaking rain, now is a good time to inspect your yard for areas that hold standing water, the Kane County Health Department reports on Wednesday, July 2.

These are perfect breeding grounds for West Nile Virus. Old tires and clogged gutters are big culprits, and make sure you change the water in bird baths frequently. We’ve already had our first evidence of West Nile Virus as the first bird has tested positive — which is earlier than in past years.
