148 Adults on Waiting List — Literacy Connection Needs More Tutors
The Literacy Connection needs more tutors. Sadly, 148 adults remain on the organization’s waiting list to share their goals with someone who can tutor them.
“Can you give one or two hours per week to help someone achieve their goals in 2014?” the Literacy Connection says in a recent press release promoting a tutoring event. “Open your heart this fall and consider becoming an adult volunteer literacy tutor. You will change your life and someone else’s life. Imagine if you or a loved one struggled with literacy or communicating in English. Wouldn’t it be wonderful news to know that there are tutors out there who can and want to help?”
Introduction to The Literacy Connection & Tutor Training takes place from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, Thursday, Sept. 4, Monday, Sept. 8 and Thursday, Sept. 11, at Gail Borden Public Library, 270 N. Grove Ave, Elgin. On Sept. 3, the first hour will be an introduction to the Literacy Connection and the last two hours is the training session. It is just $25 for the book and materials.
Registration is recommended for those interested in attending. Please call The Literacy Connection at 847-742-6565 or email info@elginliteracy.org for more information and visit its website at www.elginliteracy.org to learn more.
