An Aurora man has been sent to prison after he pleaded guilty for raping a child he knew.

Gabriel Campos-Troncozo, 35, most recently of the 600 block of Edwards Street, Aurora, has agreed to a sentence of seven years in the Illinois Department of Corrections in exchange for a guilty plea to predatory criminal sexual assault, a Class X felony.

Circuit Judge Karen Simpson accepted the plea.

Between June 5, 2005, to June 4, 2007, Campos-Troncozo committed an act of sexual penetration with the victim, whom he knew. The victim was younger than 12 years old at the time of the assault.

In addition to the prison sentence, Campos-Troncozo must register for life as a sexual offender in accordance with the Illinois Sex Offender Registration Act.

According to Illinois law, Campos-Troncozo must serve at least 85 percent of the sentence. Campos-Troncozo receives credit for at least 918 days served in the Kane County jail, where he has been held since his arrest in lieu of $300,000 bail. Bond was revoked upon conviction.
