Aurora, Batavia, Burlington Townships Assessment Changes Publish Aug. 19

Assessment changes for AuroraBatavia and Burlington townships are being published Tuesday, Aug. 19.

The Aurora Township assessments will be published in The Beacon-News. The Batavia and Burlington township assessment changes will appear in the Kane County Chronicle. You also can find assessment changes posted electronically on the Kane County Supervisor of Assessments webpage.

After all revisions and corrections by the township assessors are applied, an equalization factor  is calculated for the townships. Each non-farm property in Aurora Township was equalized with a factor of 1.0465. Batavia Township non-farm property was equalized with a factor of 1.0199, and each non-farm property in Burlington Township was equalized with a factor of 0.9370.

To obtain assessment information about a property in Campton and Geneva townships, you should check the Aurora Township Assessor’s website and Batavia  Township Assessor’s website and Burlington Township Assessor’s website. With the Aug. 19 publication, the clock starts ticking regarding the time you have to formally file a complaint about the assessed value of your property. Residents from each township get 30 days from the publication date to file a complaint. Aurora, Batavia and Burlington township complaints must be filed by Sept. 18. No complaint for property in these townships can be accepted after that date.

The following deadlines have been established for filing an assessment complaint:

  • Big Rock: Aug. 1
  • Virgil: Aug. 4
  • Dundee: Aug. 7
  • Rutland: Aug. 11
  • Sugar Grove: Aug. 14
  • Blackberry: Aug. 18
  • St. Charles: Aug. 25
  • Campton:  Aug. 28
  • Geneva: Aug. 28
  • Elgin, Sept. 4
  • Plato, Sept. 4
  • Aurora, Sept. 18
  • Batavia, Sept. 18
  • Burlington, Sept. 18
Again, no complaint for property in these townships can be accepted after these dates.
Obviously, the final filing deadline for property in Hampshire, Rutland, DundeeVirgil, Big Rock and Sugar Grove Townships have passed. Blackberry Township’s deadline is today, Aug. 18, 2014.
