Fox Valley Court Watch Provides Volunteer Training Sept. 16
The Fox Valley Court Watch, a non-profit organization, is providing a training session on Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2014 for interested volunteers in Kendall and Kane counties.
The Fox Valley Court Watch Program monitors the judicial process in domestic violence courts in Kane and Kendall county judicial centers. Court watcher observers are volunteers from the community, trained in domestic violence dynamics and court procedure, who monitor, evaluate and advocate to improve services for victims of domestic abuse. Through Court Watch, volunteers document observations of all trial activities in misdemeanor and felony domestic violence cases, with an eye toward identifying strengths and weaknesses in the Kane and Kendall county judicial system.
Volunteers must be 18 years of age, have an email address, daily email access, and commit to a minimum of one half-day session on a weekday per month for at least six months. Volunteers are required to attend one court session to observe our function in the courtroom before making that final commitment.
Training for both counties is being held at the St Charles Police Training Room, (Door #4), 211 North Riverside St., St. Charles beginning at 8 a.m. with a continental breakfast and ending at 4 p.m.
