Squirrel on a Life Preserver? Canoeists Pull Off Unusual Fox River Rescue

Canoeists on a recent float trip on the lower Fox River sponsored by The Conservation Foundation expected to see amazing things along the way such as the beautiful cliffs, eagles and other wildlife sightings.

But they never expected to see a squirrel in distress after he apparently fell from trees above into the river with no way to get up the steep cliffs.

Keith Jones and Scott Brejcha of V3 Companies were along for the ride when they saw the squirrel and coaxed it up onto a life preserver. While the frightened squirrel clung to the preserver, the two paddled their way to take it to shore.

You can watch the video taken by Brejcha at http://youtu.be/CABwilUrLTU. The photo is by Keith Jones.

Just another day on the river.
