Driver Airlifted After Collision With Garbage Truck on Route 30
The Kane County Sheriff’s Office reports Friday morning that a 44-year-old Somonauk woman was airlifted to Good Samaritan Hospital after her vehicle collided with a garbage truck on U.S. 30 near Sugar Grove.
A 2006 Chevy Uplander driven by Brandy Roberts of the 300 block of Cardinal Lane in Somonauk was travelling east on Route 30 west of Dugan Road shortly before 7:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 12, when it veered into the westbound lane of traffic for an unknown reason, according to a Sheriff’s Office press release.
The driver of the westbound Waste Management garbage truck, Milton Mishler, 59, of the 100 block of East Meadow Drive in Cortland, attempted to avoid a head-on collision and veered into the eastbound lane, where the vehicles collided, the release said.
Mishler, the sole occupant of the garbage truck, was transported to Mercy Center Hospital in Aurora with minor injuries, reports said.
The crash remains under investigation by Sheriff’s Office detectives and members of the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team. No tickets have been issued, the press release said.
Route 30 between Dugan Road and Dauberman Road was closed for about three hours while the crash was investigated.
