East and West Dundee Join Up for Heritage Fest Fun Sept. 12-14
Celebrating 17 years in the Dundee area, the annual Heritage Fest will be held Sept. 12 through Sept. 14 in downtown East and West Dundee. A local favorite along the Fox River, Heritage Fest is free to attend and provides activities for all ages. The fun begins on Thursday, Sept. 12, with the opening of the carnival prior to the kick-off of the weekend’s activities. Live bands and entertainment begin on Friday night, along with a fireworks display over the Fox River at 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday bring something for everyone, including juried craft and antique fairs, car shows, depot and farmers markets, business expo, baggo tournament and yoga instruction in the park. A broad menu of food and drink options are available throughout the weekend, including Emmett’s specialty craft beer, and new this year, Immanuel Lutheran’s Deutschfest Tent serving traditional German food. To further reflect on Dundee’s heritage, an International Food Tent has been added and represents various culinary tastes of Europe that is accompanied by complimentary music from the nearby Depot stage. There are numerous activities for families with young children, including rides on a trackless train, magic shows, Kids Bucks game show, large earth-moving equipment, scarecrow decorating, old-fashioned games and races and children’s entertainers.
