Got Antiques? See What They’re Worth Saturday in East Dundee
If you’ve got some old stuff — jewelry, furniture, art, couture — and you want to know what it might be worth, there’s a great opportunity coming up this weekend in Kane County, kind of like Antiques Roadshow, but in real life and close by.
The village of East Dundee announced today it will be sponsoring its Antique Appraisal Faire, Saturday, Sept. 27. The event is held during the Saturday Depot Market, 319 N. River Street, East Dundee. The Antique Appraisal Faire is available to anyone interested in determining the value of items they own.
Two appraisers from MIR Appraisal Services, Inc., currently celebrating 20 years in the appraisal business, will be on hand to conduct the appraisals. The appraisers attending the Depot Market have a combined appraisal experience spanning more than 30 years. The MIR appraisers will be at the Depot between the hours of 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
For those interested in getting an appraisal, registration will be begin at 10 a.m. There will be a $10 charge per item appraised and a limit of two items.
As an added benefit, those interested in learning about the appraisal process and how best to determine the value of your personal items, there will be a brief discussion presented at noon by Mir Appraisal Services.
“Every community is unique and we’ve enjoyed coming out to the Dundee area during the Depot Market on Saturdays,” said Farhad Radfar, director of Mir Appraisal Services, Inc.
MIR Appraisal Services, Inc. specializes in appraising fine and decorative art, jewelry, antiques, furniture, and vintage couture. MIR abides by the International Society of Appraisers code of ethics. Appraisers treat each item with care and respect. MIR will examine items for appraisal giving their opinion as to the fair market value, condition, medium and information regarding the artist or maker.
The Depot Market is held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays through Oct. 26. The market is open to all vendors, and different products are offered weekly. To learn more about the Depot Market, visit the Community Calendar at www.eastdundee.net or contact the village of East Dundee at 847-426-2822.
In addition, if you’re interested in looking at a range of eloquent antiques, I heard from a friend that Antiques World have such a supply. My friend was elated with their mahogany desk that they acquired through them.
