FVPD Offers Vets Free November Fitness Membership for ‘Veterans Recognition Month’
The Fox Valley Park District has proclaimed November as Veterans Recognition Month and will pay its respects with free admission to its fitness centers and also a complimentary luncheon.
Throughout November, veterans are invited to visit any Park District fitness facility as often as they’d like for no charge. Free admittance for veterans and immediate family members (spouses and children) is offered at the Eola Community Center (555 S. Eola Road), Prisco Community Center, 150 W. Illinois Ave., and Vaughan Athletic Center, 2121 W. Indian Trail.
In addition, the Park District is hosting a Veterans Day Luncheon from noon to 2:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 7, at the Prisco Community Center. All veterans will enjoy free admission but must pre-register by Nov. 3.
A catered lunch by Upper Crust will be served. Herschel Luckenbill will share information on Honor Flight Chicago and Vets Roll programs, while 2014 Miss Illinois Marisa Buchheit is scheduled to make an appearance, as well.
“We take great pride in joining our residents to express our gratitude and recognize the sacrifice and valor of our active and former service men and women,” said Laurie Hoffman, director of recreation and communications.
The complimentary fitness club and luncheon offers apply to all veterans and active military, as well as members of the National Guard and Reserves. Participants need to show a valid military ID card.
