A memorial visitation will be held Friday in Oak Park for William R. Ketcham, who served as Kane County state’s attorney from 1964 to 1972.

Ketcham, 84, of Oak Park, formerly of Dundee, practiced law with Brittain and Ketcham PC in Elgin for many years prior to his retirement in 2010.

Kane County State’s Attorney Joe McMahon said Ketcham’s legacy lives on.

“I was saddened to hear of Mr. William Ketcham’s death, and I send my sympathies to his wife, Barbara, to his surviving children, Susan, Linda and Carolyn, and to his other family members and friends. They would be pleased to know that those who speak of him in the Kane County legal community do so kindly. He is still remembered for being a good and decent person, state’s attorney and public servant. It has been an honor to follow in his footsteps.”

He is survived by his wife, his wife, Barbara;  his children, Susan (James) Gilchrist, Linda Ketcham (Kim Fisher), Carolyn Ketcham (Peter Warshaw) and the late William Jeffery Ketcham; and many grandchildren and one great-grandchild, according to the Drechsler, Brown & Williams Funeral Home obituary.

The memorial visitation will be held from 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 24, 2014, until time of service 11 a.m. at Drechsler, Brown & Williams Funeral Home, 203 S. Marion St., Oak Park. Interment at Mt. Emblem Cemetery will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Shriners Hospital for Children are appreciated.
