Scary Wind Advisory in Effect for Halloween

The National Weather Service report for Kane County, IL, includes a scary Halloween wind advisory with a warning of gusts of 50 mph or more.

The wind advisory remains in effect from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31.

Winds during the day will be northerly and reach as high as 50 mph. “Tree limbs and power lines could be blown down,” the NWS says.

“A wind advisory means that sustained winds of 30 to 39 mph — or gusts between 45 mph and 57 mph — are likely,” the advisory says. “Winds this strong can cause minor property damage unless precautions are taken.

“Driving may be difficult, especially in high-profile vehicles. Motorists should be alert and use caution.”
