St. Charles Native Joins ROE’s Team as Coordinator of Alternative Programs

The Kane County Regional Office of Education has named Josh Axelsen as its new coordinator of alternative programs.

Axelsen, a special education teacher for Mid-Valley Special Education in St. Charles, is a St.Charles native and graduate of St. Charles East High School, where he was a part of the 2004 baseball team that finished fourth in the AA baseball state tournament. He also played at Elgin Community College and received a scholarship to play at St. Andrews University in Laurinburg, NC.

He is a former assistant coach for the Bartlett Silver Hawks Collegiate team and assistant varsity coach at Purnell Swett High School in Pembroke, NC.

“Josh’s involvement with our youth outreach team will help children receive the resources they need,” said Paige McNulty, assistant regional superintendent. “He is also a member of the juvenile drug court team, as well as the coordinator of the Kane County Regional Safe Schools program.”

The Kane County Regional Office of Education’s mission is to advocate for education, provide leadership, perform regulatory functions, and coordinate state and local services for educators, schools districts, and the community.
