Want to Know Trick Or Treat Hours in Kane County? Check This Big, Honkin’ List
Hey, Halloween is tomorrow, and the National Weather Service report for Kane County, IL, says it’s supposed to be freezing, so make sure your kids are bundled up and safe.
The following is a list of Halloween hours for municipalities throughout Kane County. For unincorporated areas, you might check your local homeowners associations for recommended hours, but the best recommendation probably is just to apply a little common sense.
“We always try to stress in unincorporated areas that a lot of times we don’t have sidewalks and we don’t have street lights,” Kane County Undersheriff Pat Gengler said. “So we encourage an early start and for children especially to go while it’s light.”
Gengler was on WBBM radio earlier and said the most important aspect of Halloween safety is “parental involvement with the kids.”
Gengler said there’s a little added danger this year because Halloween falls on a Friday, when there might be more adult Halloween parties and the possibility of increased drinking and driving.
“I’m always worried when holidays fall on a Friday or a Saturday,” he said. “Usually, Halloween is a kids’ day, but now it’s a Friday. Let’s hope the adults don’t get in the way.”
As you can see by the list below, most of the cities and villages in Kane County go with the 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. recommendation. The village of Wayne has the most-lenient recommended hours of 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., but its website and Police Department go a long way in emphasizing safety.
It took awhile to put this list together, and if you have any additional information for any one of these municipal recommendations, email ricknagel23@gmail,com, and I’ll try to add it. Probably the best online resource is your municipality’s website. Another good online resource for trick-or-treating hours is ChicagoHalloweenGuide.com.
Some municipalities also have special days for pumpkin collection. The links below are helpful in finding the services you need for your neck of the woods in Kane County.
