Aurora Police Seek Witnesses in Hit-And-Run Crash

Aurora Police are appealing for witnesses to a Nov. 6, Near East Side hit and run crash that critically injured a 58 year old bicyclist.

The crash victim was driving his 10-speed bicycle east on Liberty Street at 5:44 p.m. Thursday, when he was hit just east of Farnsworth Avenue by what witnesses describe as a red, full-size pickup truck similar to a Ford F-150 which was also eastbound. After hitting the man, who is a Carol Stream resident, the truck continued east at a high rate of speed. The victim was taken to an Aurora hospital and later airlifted to a suburban hospital for treatment. He remains in critical but stable condition.

Aurora Police traffic investigators say that the pickup truck lost part of its front grill surround and that they have been able to confirm the vehicle as being red in color. However, they have not yet been able to match up the piece to any particular make or model.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to call Aurora Police traffic investigators at 630-256-5330 or Aurora Area Crime Stoppers at (630) 892-1000. Calls to Crime Stoppers are anonymous and qualify for a cash reward of up to $5000 for information that leads to any arrests. Tips can also be submitted through the Aurora Police Department’s free app available through iTunes, the Android Market, or Amazon App Store.
