Bitter Cold Brings Hazardous Weather Outlook to Kane County
Forecasting wind chills as low as 15 below zero, the National Weather Service—Chicago has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for Kane County and all of North Central Illinois, Northeast Illinois and Northern Indiana, starting tonight (Monday, Nov. 17, 2014.)
“Cold air combined with gusty west winds will result in wind chills below zero tonight into Tuesday morning. The coldest areas west of Chicago may see wind chills of 10 below to 15 below zero by sunrise Tuesday morning,” according to the NWS forecast for Kane County, IL.
For the balance of the work week, the highest daytime temperature in the forecast is 28 degrees.
A period of light snow is likely early Wednesday morning across portions of Northern Illinois.
“Minor accumulations are possible, which may make for slippery travel during the Wednesday-morning commute,” the NWS says.
In addition to Kane County, the counties under the Hazardous Weather Outlook include Winnebago, Boone, McHenry, Lake, Ogle, Lee, DeKalb, DuPage, Cook, LaSalle, Kendall, Grundy, Will, Kankakee, Livingston, Iroquois, Lake and Ford in Illinois, and Porter, Newton, Jasper and Benton in Indiana.
