Kane County's New Sheriff, Other Newly Elected Officials to Be Sworn in Dec. 1

Kane County’s New Sheriff, Other Newly Elected Officials to Be Sworn in Dec. 1

You know the results of the Nov. 4, 2014, election — now you can meet the winners.

swearing-in ceremony (for newly elected and re-elected officials will be held at 9 a.m. Monday, Dec. 1, in the County Boardroom of Building A at the Kane County Government Center. (For those keeping score at home, the meeting originally was slated for 9:30 a.m. but was moved up a half hour.)

The meet-and-greet is expected to last about an hour, and a reception will follow.

When you think about it, you probably won’t get a chance to go to Springfield and congratulate Bruce Rauner in person, and you’re likely not flying out to Washington for a piece of cake and cup of coffee with Dick Durbin. And, to be fair to those two gentlemen, there’s no way they can meet and greet all of the fine folks in their giant-economy-sized constituencies.

But you can actually meet and greet your elected official, if you like, here in Kane County.

“Who is it that I’ll be congratulating?” you say. Well, I’m glad you asked.

There’s a new sheriff in town, and you’ll get a chance to see newly elected Sheriff Don Kramer at the swearing-in ceremony. Also, Regional Superintendent of Schools Patricia Dal Santo, recently mentioned in the Kane County Chronicle’s “Everyday Heroes” special section, will be in attendance.

Obviously, you know who won the contested elections, because those are the ones most-often covered in news articles. But the swearing-in ceremony will include a number of officials who won election or re-election in uncontested races, as well.

The odd-numbered districts in Kane County were on the ballot this time around. (County Board seats are four-year terms, and odd-numbered districts alternate every two years with the even-numbered districts in the election cycle. There are 24 Kane County districts, by the way, if you’re still keeping track on that scorecard at home.)

The newcomers to the County Board are Donald Ishmael, William Lenert and John Martin.

The following is a list of the Kane County Board members who won election or re-election on Nov. 4:

District 1 — Myrna Molina

District 3 — Donald Ishmael

District 5 — William Lenert

District 7 — Monica Silva

District 9 — Thomas “T.R.” Smith

District 11 — John Martin

District 13 — Philip Lewis

District 15 — Barbara Wojnicki

District 17 — Deborah Allan

District 19 — Kurt Kojzarek

District 21 — Rebecca Gillam

District 23 — Margaret “Maggie” Auger

Kane County Clerk John A. “Jack” Cunningham and Kane County Treasurer David Rickert also won re-election Nov. 4 in uncontested races.
