Electrical Work May Impact Trail Users Between St. Charles and South Elgin

Fox River Trail users may experience limited access between St. Charles and South Elgin over the next two months, due to a ComEd project to replace nearby electrical lines.

A contractor will be working to replace electrical wires that run along the Fox River, adjacent to the trail. The Fox River Trail may be closed intermittently during the project. At other times, contractors will assist trail users through the area and safely around the construction equipment.

The affected trail area is from Villa Maria Road, near Tekakwitha Woods Forest Preserve in St. Charles, through Stearns Road in South Elgin.

Construction begins on Jan. 12 and is expected to last through March 21.

The Forest Preserve District asks users of the Fox River Trail to be aware of the project and mindful of the possibility for intermittent closures and/or delays in getting through the area. Signs will be posted to notify trail users in both directions.
