Lane Reduction on Illinois 59 at I-88 Monday
The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that a new traffic pattern will begin on northbound IL 59 between Diehl Road in Aurora/Naperville and Ferry Road in Warrenville. The project and new traffic configuration is slated to begin, weather permitting, Monday, Dec. 8.
In order to complete the work, northbound IL 59 traffic will be reduced to one lane at the bridge over I-88. The lane reduction will begin south of the eastbound I-88 entrance ramp, and end north of the westbound I-88 exit ramp. Southbound IL 59 will not be affected, and will continue to have two lanes over the I-88 bridge.
Upon completion, the project will provide enhanced safety, additional roadway capacity, reduced crash potential, and improved roadway geometrics that will facilitate traffic flow and relieve congestion. In addition to serving the motoring public, the project will help meet the existing and future needs of the adjacent communities and create the potential for increased economic development.
The project is expected to be completed by September 30th, 2015.
