WEATHER ALERT: 1-2 Inches of Snow Expected Overnight And Wednesday
The national Weather Service for Kane County says a “wintry mix” is going to be hitting us like a sack of rocks overnight Tuesday and early Wednesday.
OK, that’s not the exact simile, but it’s pretty close.
An approaching “weather disturbance” will result in light precipitation, initially in the form of light drizzle or freezing rain before mixing with or changing to wet snow overnight.
Temperatures are expected to remain near or just above freezing Tuesday, until it turns to snow.
Accumulation is expected to range from about an inch north of Interstate 88 across Northern Illinois. Light snow will continue into Wednesday morning, according to a Special Weather Statement issued at 3:48 p.m.
The freezing rain and snow will make travel conditions slippery in some areas, and if that’s not enough, some patchy fog is expected to reduce visibility Tuesday evening.
