Ask Mr. Kane County Person: Why Does My ‘Connects’ Newsletter Look So Weird?
Most of the time, we call this feature “Ask Mr./Ms Kane County Person,” with the idea that I (Rick Nagel, outreach guy) am not “Mr. Kane County Person.”
The real Mr./Ms, Kane County Person, the authority who responds to queries from youse guys, is generally one of the top-shelf women or men who do the actual work around here — expert, trained professionals who know exactly what they’re talking about.
Such is not the case with this installment. I’m going to assume the crushing responsibility that goes with the title “Mr. Kane County Person” and attempt to answer a reader’s question myself, and if I’m wrong, I’m pretty sure somebody will tell me.
Today’s question involves the Kane County Connects newsletter (CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP, FOR GOSH SAKE!) and comes from an alert reader we won’t identify by name because his or her question is asked so frequently by so many people.
“Rick, Why does the photo overlay the news headline on each article in your newsletter? If I go to ‘Read More,’ it is normal. Are my settings wrong? Just curious.”
The following is my response, except for the fact that I edited some typos. (No surprise there, right?)
Dear (Just Curious):
- Images are not displayed. Display images below
- Having trouble viewing this email? Click here
You should then see the newsletter in its full awesomeness. (Or at least, its full OK-ness.)
When you click on “Read More” or the headline of an article on the newsletter, the embedded link takes you to the article on KaneCountyConnects.com. In other words, as soon as you click that “Read More” link, your computer is showing the full article on our webpage, or “blog.”
(As an aside, if I ever mistype a link in the newsletter [which happens — I’m human ], just go to KaneCountyConnects.com and look for the article.)
Hope that helps! Have a great day!

So, there you have it. For the record, Just Curious did email back to say that “it worked.” If you have any further questions, let me know, and I’ll pass it along to an authentic Mr./Mr. Kane County Person.
