District 300 To Host Legislative Forum on Feb. 23 at Jacobs High School
Community Unit School District 300’s Board Community Engagement Committee will host The District 300 Legislative Forum Monday, Feb. 23, at Jacobs High School.
The District 300 Legislative Forum features a panel of local legislators and District 300 administrators who will discuss the latest legislative issues impacting education and take questions from the audience.
The following legislators are scheduled to participate on the panel: Illinois State Sen. Karen McConnaughay, Illinois State Sen. Michael Noland, Illinois State Rep. David McSweeney,Illinois State Rep. Anna Moeller, Illinois State Rep. Robert Pritchard, and Illinois State Rep. Michael Tryon.
All District 300 parents, staff, students, community members and local media are welcome to attend.
“The Legislative Forum enhances the power of our collective voice, the students, parents, elected officials and staff,” said Steve Fiorentino, District 300 Board of Education member and chairman of the newly formed Community Engagement Committee. “This is what makes our advocacy powerful. The Legislative Forum is one tool to make our voices heard to improve our schools and our educational system as a whole.”
A casual reception begins at 6:30 p.m., when attendees can enjoy food while visiting with the state legislators who represent the D300 community. The Legislative Forum begins at 7 p.m. inside the Jacobs High School Auditorium.
