GHS Inducts 3 New Members Into Athletic Hall of Fame
Geneva High School inducted three new members into its Athletic Hall of Fame on Saturday night, Feb. 7.
This year’s inductees include Mack Olson, class of 1960, who starred in basketball and baseball and then went on to a successful local business and community leader. Geneva’s gymnasium was renamed in his honor in 1997.
The father-son team of Joe Herrera (class of 1979) and Nick Herrera (class of 2006) also were inducted Saturday night.
Joe Herrera excelled in football, baseball and wrestling at GHS and then enjoyed a storied football career at Elmhurst college. His son, Nick, was a stellar performer for the Geneva baseball and football teams, and like his father continued his college career at Elmhurst where he played both football and baseball.
