For students and parents, Friday’s countywide Institute Day 2015 may might feel like any other day off, but for more than 1,400 Kane County educators and administrators, it is the electricity that sparks a passion for lifelong learning.

From Aurora to Hampshire, the Kane County Regional Office of Education will be holding more than 30 events at high schools, public libraries, community colleges, nonprofit headquarters and government buildings with a four-digit enrollment that’s expanding every year. Events will cover a variety of topics, including the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy’s Close Encounters of the STEM Kind, Where the Wild Things Art offered by the Fine Line Creative Arts Center, and Preventing and Managing Anxiety in a School Setting from TriCity Family Services.

“One of the many reasons why our schools are so highly rated is due to ongoing professional development by dedicated educators and administrators,” Director of Professional Development Shirley LeClere said. “From kindergarten collaboration to woodworking technology to building nonfiction engagement, we have exciting opportunities for all areas of education on our countywide Institute Day.”

This year, the @KaneCountyROE is encouraging educators and administrators to share their photos and highlights using #InstituteDay on social media. Represent your school district and show the community how you’re furthering your professional development. We’ll add the contributions to our follow-up slideshow.
