We don’t expect any school cancellations or major upheaval in transportation, but Kane County is getting more of the same Tuesday and early Wednesday: snow, cold and crumby commutes.

The National Weather Service has issued a Special Weather Statement for good old latitude 41.95, longitude -88.4334, which the weather service pinpoints as Kane County’s geographic center point.

Accumulations pf 1 to 3 inches are expected along and north of the I-88 corridor Tuesday afternoon. Much of the snow is falling as this is written, during the evening rush, “and motorists should expect hazardous conditions during their commute,” the Special Weather Statement, uh, states.

Snow is expected to exit stage right Tuesday evening, but “patchy, freezing drizzle” is coming after midnight and could result in icy conditions for Wednesday’s morning commute.

More snow could come Wednesday, between noon and 3 p.m., according to the NWS forecast.
