Sorry to sound like a broken record, but the National Weather Service has posted yet another Wind Chill Advisory for Kane County.

This one’s in effect from 2 a.m. to 9 a.m. Friday, Feb. 27.

Wind chills are expected to be in the range of 20 below zero to 25 below zero.

As we said in an earlier post, frostbite can occur in as little as 15 minutes on exposed skin, even at the lower end of these wind chill values.

A Wind Chill Advisory means that the wind will combine with the very cold air to generate low wind chills.

“If you must venture outdoors, make sure you wear a hat and gloves,” the NWS says.

Friday is a teacher’s institute day in Kane County schools, so the cold won’t initiate school closings at public schools. From Aurora to Hampshire, the Kane County Regional Office of Education will be holding more than 30 events at high schools, public libraries, community colleges, nonprofit headquarters and government buildings with a four-digit enrollment that’s expanding every year.
