The Forest Preserve District of Kane County has one full-time, one part-time, and various summer seasonal position openings.

In a press release issued this week, the Forest Preserve District noted that it has openings for a maintenance worker, facility assistant and many summer jobs open in various departments.

The preserve maintenance worker is a full-time position. Preserve maintenance workers mow and maintain district open space areas, bike trails, multi-use trails and roadways, ensure proper maintenance of equipment and tools, perform building and structural maintenance, operate trucks of various sizes and weights, provide assistance with preparation and maintenance of district garden areas, assist the public as needed and perform other duties as assigned.

Applicants must have the ability to obtain and maintain a CDL Class A license and must be 18 years of age or older, with a high school diploma or GED equivalent.

The facility assistant is a part-time position, averaging 12 hours per week. Facility assistant responsibilities include opening, closing, promoting and overseeing District facilities and grounds for special events; showing facilities to prospective renters; coordinating with on-site vendors; maintaining building cleanliness during and after events; answering questions; and other duties as assigned. Applicants must be 21 years of age or older, with a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
