Advocate Sherman Hospital has been selected as one of 18 local organizations to benefit from the Chicago Auto Show’s upcoming First Look for Charity event.

To help raise funds and celebrate Sherman Hospital’s selection, the hospital partnered with Elgin’s new Brilliance Subaru for a kick-off event Jan. 14 at the dealership, located at 1500 N. Randall Road. During the event, complimentary cocktails and appetizers were served, and attendees learned more about the Sherman Hospital Emergency Department Expansion Project, which will benefit from the funds raised during First Look for Charity on Feb. 13.

The current Emergenct Department space at Sherman Hospital was designed for 40,000 visits annually. In 2014, volume was more than 64,000. Despite challenges, patient satisfaction scores remain high, and with simple changes in the physical layout of the Emergency Department, the patient experience will further improve. The expansion project will recongifure and expand the space to accommodate eight additional patients and establish a triage alcove for ambulance patients, among other things.

Tickets for the First Look for Charity event, which will take place from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Feb. 13 at McCormick Place, cost $250, with $199 of each ticket sold going toward the expansion project at Sherman Hospital. When purchasing tickets, remember to designate Sherman Hospital as the beneficiary.

First Look for Charity is the pre-opening, black-tie gala and preview event for the nation’s largest auto show, and has raised more than $36 million for local charities over the last 22 years.

A $250 ticket includes entry to the pre-gala reception and event; a chance to win a 2015 Ford Explorer or 2015 Ford Fusion; free transportation from Sherman Hospital; and a $199 tax-deductible donation to the Sherman Hospital charitable foundation.
