12th Annual Latina Health Festival Set for April 11

Compañeros en Salud invites women ages 18 and over, to its 12h Annual Latina Health Festival with the theme, “Pathways to Wellness” from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 11, 2015, at the Prisco Community Center, 150 W. Illinois Ave.,  Aurora. The festival is designed to promote healthy living habits and preventative care tips to help women and their families lead a healthier life.

The festival’s free services will include cholesterol/blood glucose (blood sugar) screenings (twelve hour fasting for cholesterol/blood glucose screening), bone density, blood pressure, height and weight evaluation and many more. There will also be an opportunity for participants to learn about the health and social services of the area from the exhibitors.

All informational sessions, including the motivational speaker, Dr. Patricia Arredondo, president of The Chicago School of Professional Psychology will be offered in Spanish and simultaneous translation will be available for English speakers.

The free event is held with the support of Aurora Hispanic Heritage Advisory Board, city of Aurora, Fox Valley Park District, Presence Mercy Medical Center, Rush-Copley Medical Center, Waubonsee Community College, and the coalition’s member agencies and volunteers.
