Aurora Police Have Located Man Wanted For Burglary

Aurora Police have located the 29-year-old man wanted for residential burglary.

According to an email on Monday, March 23, Anthony D. Gant is now in the custody of the Illinois Department of Corrections.

The request for the public’s help was sent in an eblast around 3 p.m. Friday, March 20.

Gant, whose last known Aurora address is in the 1200 block of West Indian Trail and is also known to frequent the 600 block of Sterling Court in DeKalb, was wanted for a Feb. 18 burglary to an apartment in the same block as his Aurora address. Around $1,150 in computer equipment, electronics and video games were taken from the residence sometime between 7:40 a.m. and 11 a.m.

Police zeroed in on Gant the day after the burglary when two Community Policing officers were reviewing calls for service in their assigned West Side districts. After learning of the burglary, they checked Leads Online, the internet system to which all pawn shops and resale stores in Aurora must list their transactions along with the identifying information of the customer who initiated them. The officers located proceeds matching those stolen in the burglary to a resale shop in the 800 block of North Lake Street, which recorded that Gant was the person who sold the goods.

Anyone with information that might be of value to law enforcers is asked to call Aurora Police Investigators at 630-256-5500, Aurora Area Crime Stoppers at (630) 892-1000, or their local law enforcement agency. Callers to Crime Stoppers are anonymous and qualify for a cash reward of up to $5000 for information that leads to his arrest.
