Chicago Woman Killed, 4 Injured in Saturday Crash on Farnsworth Avenue
Aurora Police have identified the driver of a vehicle involved in a fatal crash early Saturday morning as Porce T. Robinson, 21, of the 1600 block of East 47th Place, Chicago.
Robinson was driving a 2000 Chevrolet Malibu southbound on Farnsworth Avenue at about 2:20 a.m. Saturday, when she apparently lost control of the car and went off the roadway just south of Front Street and proceeded to hit a power pole at Grove Street, according to a city of Aurora press release.
Four other women with Robinson were injured, three of them seriously. The force of the crash caused two of the passengers to be ejected from the vehicle. Witnesses say Robinson was driving at a high rate of speed. Police found open alcohol inside the vehicle. It’s not yet clear if any of the women were wearing their seatbelts.
Robinson was pronounced dead at the scene.
Her passengers included three Aurora women, ages 23, 30 and 34; along with a 24-year-old Montgomery woman. Both the 23- and 34-year-olds were transported to suburban Chicago hospitals. The 30-year-old wass in the intensive care unit at an Aurora hospital Saturday, and the 24-year-old was treated and released.
Farnsworth Avenue was closed in both directions for the duration of the day between Front and Grove Streets while ComEd makes repairs.
An autopsy on Robinson is scheduled for Monday at the Kane County Coroner’s office in Geneva.
Aurora police are continuing their investigation.
