If you’re a regular reader of Kane County Connects (or an irregular reader, for that matter), you might have noticed a series of stories last fall about the seed harvest, courtesy of Kane County Forest Preserve District Volunteer Coordinator Robb Cleave.

Each year in the fall, seed is harvested from the forest preserves then processed and put back into preserves around the county, for the preservation of the native plants and enjoyment of all. If you’re interested in the program, please contact the volunteer coordinator at 630-762-2741 to RSVP for groups of 10 or more.

On Tuesday, the Kane County Forest Preserve District continued its commitment to prairie restoration seeding for the Freeman Kame Forest Preserve, located in the northern part of Kane County, with a resolution to purchase $14,100 in seed from Agrecol, LLC of Evansville, WI.

Resolution Accepting a Bid for Prairie Restoration Seed for the Freeman Kame Forest Preserve

WHEREAS, bids have been solicited and received for the purchase of prairie restoration seed at the Freeman Kame Forest Preserve; and

WHEREAS, the apparent low qualified bidder for purchase of the prairie restoration seed is Agrecol, LLC of Evansville, Wisconsin, in the amount of $14,100.00.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of Commissioners of the Forest Preserve District of Kane County, Illinois that the low qualified bid by Agrecol, LLC of Evansville, Wisconsin in the amount of $14,100 be, and hereby is accepted and approved.
