Sleepy Hollow Hosts 3 Referendum Information Sessions
Sleepy Hollow is hosting three information sessions regarding the April 7 referendum seeking an increase for its Infrastructure and Capital Improvement Fund.
Village trustees voted in January to place the tax referendum question on the April 7 ballot. Money not spent during the fiscal year is transferred to the Capital Fund, which is used for services and equipment that includes police cars, road repaving, flood control and improvements, snow plows and Public Works Department trucks, park improvements, and maintaining the public works and Village Hall buildings.
The amount that is being requested will increase the Sleepy Hollow portion of each resident’s property tax bill by about $316 for a home with an assessed value of $200,000. The taxes would be assessed during 2015 and be payable beginning with the June 2016 tax bill.
Additional information about the referendum may be viewed on the village website or on the village of Sleepy Hollow Facebook page. The Q&A forums will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 28, and from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, and Thursday, April 2, at the Village Hall, 1 Thorobred Lane.
