Want to Do Something About Domestic Violence? Fox Valley Court Watch Training April 10
The Fox Valley Court Watch, a non-profit organization, is providing a training session on Friday, April 10, 2015, for interested volunteers in Kane County and Friday April 24 in Kendall County.
The Fox Valley Court Watch Program monitors the judicial process in domestic violence courts in Kane and Kendall Counties Judicial Centers. Court Watcher Observers are volunteers from the community, trained in domestic violence dynamics and court procedure which monitor, evaluate and advocate improving services for victims of domestic abuse.
Through Court Watch, volunteers document observations of all trial activities in misdemeanor and felony domestic violence cases, with an eye toward identifying strengths and weaknesses in the Kane and Kendall County Judicial system.
Volunteers must be 18 years of age, have an email address and daily email access and are required to attend one court session to observe the Court Watch function in the court room before making that final commitment.
Training begins with a continental breakfast at 9 a.m. April 10 at the Kane County Judicial Center, Route 38, St Charles, and ends at 3:30 p.m. Training for Kendall County is being held on April 24 at the Sugar Grove Fire Department, 25 S. Municipal Dr., Sugar Grove beginning, also from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with continental breakfast.
