In a snowstorm more appropriate for February than late March, Kane County was hit by 3 or 4 inches of snow Monday, March 23.

The National Weather Service warned drivers to be careful driving during the Monday morning commute and calling for 2 to 4 inches of snow before noon Monday.

According the NWS Winter Weather Advisory, accumulating snow will continue through the morning across Northern Illinois.

A period of moderate to possibly brief heavy snowfall rates are expected specifically during the morning commute. “These snowfall rates should be enough to lead to accumulations, especially on untreated surfaces,” the NWS said.

While there remains some uncertainty on how expansive he heavier snowfall rates will be and how quickly accumulations will occur, 1 to 3 inches are “favored” be the time snow ends around noon Monday, the weather service said.

The timing of the snowfall likely will present delays for many modes of travel.
