Winter Weather Advisory In Effect 3AM Through Noon Tuesday
A “wintry mix” sound almost jovial, like a cocktail at a Christmas party, but it’s more nasty news for Kane County commuters Tuesday morning.
The National Weather Service has put out a Winter Weather Advisory for Kane County and the surrounding area from 3 a.m. to noon Tuesday, March 3, 2015.
According to the advisory, a “wintry mix” of snow will transition to sleet and freezing rain in many areas, but especially north of Interstate 80.
Snow accumulations of up to two inches are expected near the Wisconsin border, and about an inch in the Chicago area. The snow will create “hazardous travel conditions during the Tuesday commute,” the advisory says.
The NWS says the snow and sleet should turn to light rain or drizzle by Tuesday afternoon.
“Be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving,” the NWS says.
