12-Year-Old Girl Killed in Route 20 Truck Rollover
The Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team is assisting in the investigation of a Monday-morning Pingree Grove semi-truck rollover crash in which a 12-year-old Indiana girl was killed.
According to the Daily Herald, Chicago Tribune, ABC Chicago and numerous media reports, Dahabrielle Turner, of South Bend, IN, was killed when the truck driven by her father crashed around 5:15 a.m. Monday on Route 20, west of the Reinking Road intersection.
Anyone who witnessed the crash or who has additional information is asked to call the Pingree Grove Police Department at 847-464-4600.
The driver of the truck, Dior Turner, of South Bend, sustained minor injuries and was treated at Presence St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin. Dahabrielle reportedly was ejected from the truck, which then rolled over her.
The Daily Herald report said the truck was carrying poly sealant, which was spilled in the crash, and crews spent hours cleaning up the spill. Phone lines were damaged, as well, when the truck hit utility polls.
Route 20 was closed for most of the day and reopened after 4 p.m.
