Ah, now we get it.

Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory had more than a little fun in its April Fools’ Day issue of Fermilab Today, sharing stories on a new breakfast food called “Neutrin-O’s” (“Trillions in every bite!”), announcing a partnership with the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District to build a giant particle accelerator/stormwater drainage ring around the Chicago area with an acronym CARP, and revealing a picture of the Loch Ness Monster in Swan Lake on the Fermilab campus.

It’s hard to pick a favorite among the lampoons, but CERN’s discovery of the Force is right up there.

“Very impressive, this result is,” said a diminutive green spokesperson for the laboratory.

There’s also a very clever video mimicking the old Bob Newhart Show, an announcement that a Fermilab day spa is set to open this summer and a guest essay from a high-level official with the Office of Integrated Planning and Performance Management.

Over the course of the last year, Fermilab has been busy planning, planning plans, and planning plans to plan those plans. We are now ready to unveil the fruits of many months of labor.

The detail that went into this issue is impressive, to say the least. Some of the announcements include:
