Franklyn Park Company Recalls Salad Dressings Due to Salmonella Concerns
The Kane County Health Department is advising that Conway Import Co., Inc., of Franklin Park, IL, is voluntarily recalling Conway Organic Sesame Ginger Dressing and Conway Citrus Organic Vinaigrette Dressing because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.
The product was distributed in Illinois and other states through direct deliveries, but no illnesses have been reported.
Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), Endocarditis and arthritis.
The products were packed in plastic gallon jars with the mfg. code printed on the top of the cap and the cardboard shipping container. A list of the recalled products is available by clicking on the FDA Recalls web page.
