The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that closures will occur along Illinois Route 25/Stearns in Elgin for bridge demolition, weather permitting. The work started Monday, March 30, and will be completed by April 3.

In order to complete the work, all lanes of IL 25 will be closed between Stearns Road and Dunham Road, nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. These closures will also affect the section of Stearns Road that shares the Illinois 25 corridor. Detours will be posted.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
