Kane County Mourns Loss of Former Board Member Lee Barrett, 77
Kane County mourns the passing of former County Board member Lee Barrett, 77, of East Dundee, who died suddenly on Saturday afternoon at the Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin.
According to his obituary on the Miller Funeral Home website, Lee was born in Camden, NJ, on Dec. 11, 1937, and was the son of the late Frank and Grace Barrett. On April 15, 1966, he married Carmen Rivera. Lee and Carmen made their home in the Dundee area for the past 39 years.
He was a professional, registered engineer with experience in mechanical and electrical engineering and was president, owner and operator of Barrett Engineering, Inc. in East Dundee.
Lee was a United States Army veteran, having served in the Tank Corps and the 82nd Airbourne. He was also a member of the AMVETS POST #202.
Lee was a proud and loyal member of the Republican Party, was very active in Kane County politics, and was a former member of the Kane County Board. For many years, Lee served as a precinct committeeman and was a member and former officer with the Dundee Township Republican Central Committee.
He was a member of the Wicker Park Lutheran Church in Chicago.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Carmen, their two daughters, Leigh and Eileen and a granddaughter, Taylor. Lee is also survived by his brother, Frank (Roberta) Barrett as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to his parents, Lee was preceded in death by his brothers, Lloyd and Ernest, and his sister, Arlene Roloson.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, May 1, 2015, in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee. Burial with military honors will follow in the Windridge Memorial Park Cemetery, Cary. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday in the Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee.
