West Aurora School District 129 appears to have beaten the odds Tuesday, passing a $84.2 million school construction referendum.
With 32 of 32 precincts in Aurora tallied by the Aurora Election Commission, the referendum scored 2,379 “yes” votes and 1,376 “no” votes. In the Kane County portion of School District 129, the proposition’s “yes” votes edged the “no” votes 1,316-1,129.
Six other propositions in Kane County did not fare so well.
The Burlington Fire proposition to create a new tax fell 123-45, the Blackberry Township Road District vote to increase the limiting rate fell 864-641, the village of Sleepy Hollow proposition to increase the limiting rate fell 543-92, the St. Charles referendum to issue $28 million in park bonds fell 4,178-1,349, the village of Gilberts general obligation bond referendum fell 555-125, and the Fox River Fire property tax extension limitation law fell 2,169-792.
