Lyrid Meteor Showers Start April 16, Peak April 22-23
Look, up in the sky! It’s a bird! It’s a plane! No, it’s a Lyrid meteor shower.
Important to note, that’s a Lyrid shower and not a lurid shower, which is something completely different.
In Kane County, you can see meteor showers this month, starting on or about April 16 and peaking around April 22-23. EarthSky News says the Lyrids — “April’s shooting stars” — can bring as many as 20 meteors an hour and have had surges as high as 100 per hour, really a spectacular sight.
