A tornado touched down near Rochelle, killing one person Thursday night.

Multiple media reports described a 50-mile path of damage across Northern Illinois. DeKalb and Ogle counties were hardest hit.

According to reports, much of the damage skirted Kane County to the west and north. The Daily Herald reported that hail was falling in Elgin, and hail fell in Geneva shortly after 6 p.m.

A Wind Advisory remains in effect in Kane County until 4 a.m. Friday, April 10.
