The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook, saying a storm’s coming Wednesday night and conditions are right for a tornado Thursday.

Locally heavy rainfall Wednesday night could result in localized flooding, the NWS says. Hail as big as 2 inches in diameter and wind gusts up to 60 mph are possible. The comforting two-word sentence “brief tornado,” is part of the Hazardous Weather Outlook text.

The storm is comin’ this afternoon (Wednesday, April 8, 2015) and severe storms are possible throughout the duration but especially this evening.

Plus, there might be areas of dense fog.

“The threat exists for an outbreak of severe weather. Thunderstorms, including the potential for tornadoes, (are possible) late Thursday afternoon into Friday evening,” the NWS says. “All of the ingredients need to come together just right for a significant severe weather outbreak.”

Is it just me, or does that sound suspiciously hopeful, like dialogue right out of the move Twister?

At the very least “a significant outbreak of severe thunderstorms could be in place Thursday, and later forecasts and outlooks should be closely monitored,” the NWS says.
