2-Day Route 38 Parking Restrictions in Geneva Postponed Until After Memorial Day
An Illinois Department of Transportation contractor has postponed the planned overnight construction work on Route 38 (West State Street) between Seventh and First streets in downtown Geneva to May 26 and May 27. The work had been set from May 19 to May 20.
The good news is that parking along Route 38 will not be impacted until after the Memorial Day holiday. The bad news is that parking along West State Street will be limited during overnight hours on Tuesday (May 26) and Wednesday (May 27.)
You can sign up for the city of Geneva’s Route 38 construction updates at this link.
According to a city of Geneva press release, parking on West State Street will remain open during the day with road work taking place from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.. Visitors heading downtown in the evening should monitor “no parking” restrictions, which will be in effect from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., along various segments of the highway.
Throughout the project, work from Anderson Boulevard to First Street in Geneva will primarily occur during overnight hours to alleviate the impact on the downtown business community. Construction from Bricher Road to Anderson Boulevard is being performed during the day due to the proximity of residential homes along Route 38.
Motorists should expect daily lane closures throughout the project, which is expected to be finished by August. Two lanes (one in each direction) will remain open for drivers at all times on West State Street, but people wanting to avoid the construction zone can take Fabyan Parkway as an alternate route.
The overall IDOT project calls for resurfacing Route 38 from western Kane County to Route 31 in downtown Geneva.
Geneva will be providing construction updates so people can plan their commute accordingly. Visit the City’s project webpage at www.geneva.il.us/Rt38construction and subscribe to receive information via email or text messages.
