2 Drivers Injured in Wednesday Crash on Route 25
Two people were injured and morning traffic on Route 25 was held up for about three hours Wednesday after a crash at the intersection of Route 25 and Seminary Drive in unincorporated St. Charles Township.
According to a press release from the Kane County Sheriff’s Office, sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to Route 25 near the intersection of Seminary Drive at about 6:40 a.m. Wednesday, May 13, for a report of a traffic crash with injuries.
“The initial investigation indicates that an older model Jeep Wrangler was traveling south on Route 25, when a four-door Cadillac pulled out from Seminary Drive onto Route 25 directly in front of the Jeep,” the press release said.
The driver of the Cadillac, identified as Mario Castillo, 33, of Bloomingdale failed to stop for the stop sign for eastbound traffic in Seminary Drive, the Sheriff’s Office release said. The driver of the Jeep was identified as Samuel Ogden, 27, of St. Charles.
Ogden was treated for non-life-threatening injuries; Castillo was treated for potential life-threatening injuries, the release said.
The drivers were the sole occupants of each vehicle and were transported to Delnor Hospital in Geneva. The Sheriff’s Office report said it appears that neither driver was wearing a seatbelt.
“The investigation is still ongoing and it has not yet been determined if drug/alcohol or use of electronic devices played a role in this crash,” the report said.
No charges have been issued at this time.
Route 25 was closed between Army Trail Road and Seminary Drive for about three hours while the crash was investigated.
